It's Broken

Apparently something was broken on Sister's toy, so Taylor fixed it. And Samantha kept stealing his tools.

Socks

After I did a load of laundry, I noticed that I kept having problems separating my socks from Taylors so I decided a picture needed to be taken. Shouldn't there be a little more difference in length between myself and my 3.5 year old? Yikes!

Pumpkin Patch

We took the kids to a Pumpkin Patch on Saturday morning. We had a great time and there were rows of pumpkins to choose from. We also got some very cool white pumpkins. We went thru a corn maze, played in a wooden club house and looked at the farm animals.

I thought we had a great time until we got back in the car on the drive home and when Taylor was asked if he liked petting the farm animals he said: "it was okay but there were no giraffes, elephants or monkeys with shoes". Sigh, I guess you can't please everyone all the time.

Football Season

I took this picture the other night after giving Samantha her bath. Apparently she is going to love sitting in the chair by her Daddy and watching football this season.

I'm okay with that, since that means I will be able to take a nap during football games and J can babysit.

A Name, A Laugh

Jason wins the naming contest for the new car.

Welcome all to ...

LEEROY JENKINS!

Now, I'm usually all for posting work safe stuff but Joe (of Fetal Minds) sent me this link via email.

WARNING:
The link contains videos that aren't for the easily offended. Think South Park with no FCC. Now, if you can get past that and are a fan of the Legend of Zelda games, you'll be laughing your arse off.

Enjoy Legend of Neil.

Oh yeah Jason, you won a shiny gold button. It'll be in your WoW mail whenver you come back and play. LOL.

New Addition to the Mitchell Clan

We had a new addition to the Mitchell Clan this week.

I bought a new car! Well, not even close to new but new to me. Having a car that has the following options is very nice:

1) A driver side window that works.
2) Turn signal that doesn't require a degree in engineering to use.
3) Air conditioning!

Now, the real challenge which I'm hoping to enlist all 3 of my readers in helping me with is naming the new car.

Most of you are probably aware that the old car was named Burt since he was such an old fart and liked to give me attitude.

Leave a comment with what you think the name should be and Jules and I will pick our favorite.

Spoiled

My children are totally in love with their dog.

Scout is an 80+ pound lab mix that is the sweetest dog ever. While he was trying to take a nap this week on the cold tile, Taylor noticed and decided that he needed a pillow. So, this is what I see when I look over 2 minutes later.

Scout is spoiled rotten! But he is a sweet, sweet dog so I try and overlook the spoiled part.

My name is Julie and I'm an addict

I have a new obsession and I am not proud of it. It is a Dyson vacuum.

I have heard for years how good they are but they were too expensive for me to even think about it. Well, Scout has been shedding so much that it is disgusting and I had had enough. So when they went on sale, I broke down and bought one.

Oh, my goodness, they are wonderful! I catch myself sweeping the house everyday just because I love how clean it is.

I wonder if there is a 12 step program for this.....

Kids and their Pets

In case you haven't noticed, J is slow on posting updates, so I have taken over for a few days.

I put the kids down for bed last night at their normal time and at 3:30 Samantha woke up at her usual time for a bottle. So when I go in there, I notice that she is not laying how I put her. She had scooted 1/2 way across her crib and her head was pushing against the crib, which upset her. I kinda thought that was weird, but thought that maybe J had moved her at some time. I decided not to worry about it and sit down in the rocker to feed her.

I ALWAYS close her door to feed her because the rocking chair squeeks but last night for some reason I didn't. Well...in case you don't know, we have a dog named Scout that is an 80+ pound lab mix that absolutely loves the kids. He pushed the door open, patrolled the room and laid down on my feet to sleep. So I get up, while still feeding Samantha, and kick him out of the room. AGAIN, I didn't get the door latched and he came back, patrolled the room and fell asleep on my feet. But he did leave when the bottle was empty without any fighting, so that was good. I've also noticed the last few days that whenever Taylor goes down for his nap, Scout sleeps in the hallway right outside his door. I'm not sure if Scout is growing up or if he just realizes that the kids are 'his' and feels the need to guard them.

Pets and kids, they have an amazing relationship.

Cardinals game

On Saturday, J and I went to St. Louis for a Cardinals game. We dropped the kids off at the in-laws and headed to the ballgame. My father-in-law bbq'd lunch for us before the game so that we didn't go broke eating at the ballgame. (We still ended up having nacho's but that's beside the point).

It was a wonderful treat to spend a few hours doing 'adult' things and not having to chase children. Don't get me wrong, I love my children, but it was nice to spend time with J. We did seem to notice all of the children and babies while we were there but realized that we didn't have to do anything with them, but watch the parents chase them. It was wonderful.

The game was wonderful and we had seats that were in the shade the whole time, it was an awesome day. And when the game was over and we went home, we arrived to Taylor yelling "Mommy, Daddy", so it was nice to be missed and be back with my family.

NASA is geeky

While this may not sound like much news to most people I was reading how the Phoenix lander that is currently on mars has a Twitter account. Something about being able to get news through NASA from Twitter really strikes my fancy. For instance, they posted shortly after they recieved and image back from Phoenix that they believe shows ice under the lander.

I've been using Twitter for awhile now and really like how it combines the best of blogs, IM and RSS feeds. If you haven't sign up and follow me.

Ace!

Today is Taylor's Birthday. The little dude is now 3 years old. How odd to think that three years ago I was able to sleep all night. Honestly though it sure doesn't feel like it was that long.

We are having a big party for Tay tomorrow. I'm sure I'll see some of you there.

Now as to the title of this post.

I made a Hole In One today after lunch on our 3 hole frisbee golf course at work. Lucky for me Chris, who I throw with on breaks, was walking out of the building towards the hole I was throwing at when I made it. There were also three guys on the basketball course that saw it. It was awesome.

*Wow bunch of typos. Guess I was excited.

Random Tidbits From ... Me

First tidbit:
Samantha is over a week old now. Everyone is doing great. Its amazing how having a daughter is different than having a son. I feel more protective which I didn't think was really possible. Julie is doing great. Taylor is digging being a big brother.

Next tidbit:
The Chiefs website had some videos posted today that were I'm sure supposed to make me believe that we can win next years Super Bowl. While the videos were well done I'm not sure how high the Chiefs can go in one year. If you haven't, go check em out.

Final tidbit:
Burt and I aren't getting along. The old fart is too hot when its warm out. No A/C and a drivers side window that doesn't roll down anymore make me want to buy a motorcycle.

Another Tadpole Update

Julie and baby are doing great but at 38 weeks the baby is already 8 lbs and 2 oz. The doctor doesn't want Julie to go full term so Tadpole will be arriving sometime next week.

I'll try and post more once we have everything worked out.

Twitter and news

Recently I started using Twitter. Something about it I like although I'm not really sure what it is. It helps that I'm able to easily post from my phone I'm sure. If any of you folks use it I'm jjmitch.

Now on to other news: Julie and I are going Thursday for a sonogram to see if Tadpole is getting to big. We are both ready for the baby to get here.

Too Early

Its too early for this on a Sunday but I just read this article.

A MacBook Air was hacked thanks to a Safari vulnerability.
Windows Vista was hacked the next day thanks to Flash.

Guess what OS didn't get hacked at all. Yep, Ubuntu.

I'm not saying we should all immediately switch to Ubuntu or anything, but what good is a nice OS if software you install compromises the security that is built into the OS?

Crossing Over

I'm a hypocrite. I finally after many long years of resisting the evilness, I today did something that I once said I would never do.

I bought an iPod. A 4 Gig Nano Silver to be exact.

I know. I know. I'm a sheep. Baaaaa.

There are a couple of reasons that I gave in. First, I've been wanting something to listen to while at the gym. Having a decent mp3 player seemed like a good idea.
Second, the guys at work keep mentioning that they use theirs for listening to podcasts. That was something that I never considered when thinking about an iPod before. And finally, since I'm already using iTunes to manage and buy music, they sucked me in.

What do you want from me?

Why do you people keep checking this thing?

I haven't had the time to update it in months. Partly because I actually work during the day now. Not having hours at work to surf and write up blog entries sure will kill your number of posts per month.

Julie is doing great, baby number 2 will be here shortly.

My job rocks. Fun fun stuff.

Hope whoever reads this is doing well.
